Applications to be Lodged Under Superseded Planning Schemes

Time is running out to request to apply development applications under the superseded planning schemes (Caloundra City Plan 2004 and Maroochy Plan 2000).

A superseded planning scheme is created every time a new planning scheme, or planning scheme amendment is gazetted. The Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 replaces the Caloundra City Plan 2004 and Maroochy Plan 2000 Planning Schemes.

In accordance with Section 95 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, a person may ask Council to assess a development proposal under the relevant superseded planning scheme.

The request must be made within one (1) year of the date the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 took effect (21 May 2014). Once an approval to lodge development application

under superseded planning  scheme is given, Council will stipulate that a formal development application must be lodged over the subject site (s) within 6 months.

This means that the 21st May 2015 will be the last day that any such request to apply superseded planning scheme to development  application can be lodged.

Sunshine Coast residents may be unaware that planning/zoning changes within the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 may have impacted on the development potential of their properties.
